This weekend, I'm bidding farewell to my faithful chair:
Here it is before making the trip down to the dumpster. I've had it for 15 years and it's finally gone kerplooey. The reason? Believe it or not, metal fatigue; the steel tube that holds the back on and attaches to the seat has totally cracked. Believe me, I tried to live with it; I tried not to lean back, but it soon proved impossible. It's a sad day, but I can't keep big, broken stuff around my place. I used to be able to, because I was a total pack rat, but today I'm slightly more sensible. And now it must go.
So if anybody tells you that IKEA stuff is flimsy crap, tell them that my cheap-ass office chair lasted a whole 15 years. Happy trails, chair.
