After Hours

Zhanna Friske. Zhanna Friske

That's no typo; the song is called Zhanna Friske and it's sung by, uh, Zhanna Friske, premiere Russian pop tart. So yeah, the song is about her. All of her videos are this blatant. It's like each one throws together all these different fetish menus. With this one, it's the boots-and-visor aficionados, the women-lounging-on-letters crowd and fans of slutty tennis. Speaking of letters, you'll notice that her initials in this video are J & F. That works, too. She can be Janna Friske. It's all legal. This video is just so surreal in such an unapologetically bodacious way that it's quite fascinating. I have no idea what the story here is supposed to be, but I'm pretty sure it centers around Zhanna Friske.

If she looks a little familiar, that probably makes you a Russian vampire movie geek, because she was in both Night Watch and Day Watch. Personally, I liked Night Watch the best. Anyhow, she played Alice in that, then changed her name to Alicia for the chaotic second installment. She's also going to be in the purported third part. They're calling it Final Watch. At this point, it only exists in theory. Director Timur Bekmambetov is booked up three years in advance, so it probably won't happen anytime soon. But if it does, Friske will be in it. Until then, she'll crank out these overly suggestive videos to accompany her slick 'n' soul-less Russian techno-pop.

I'll tell you what, every Monday will be "Zhanna Friske Monday" until I run out of videos. That should take about four weeks. So I'm very sincere when I say this: Happy Zhanna Friske Monday!
