Here's a little nostalgia for a mid-September evening. I could never really get into these guys even though I believe that I still own the Talk Talk Talk LP. To me, it just sounded like singer Richard Butler had no voice box. The press at the time claimed that he sounded like a fog horn, but I begged to differ. A fog horn is a lot louder. Besides that, their lyrics were pretentious, their tunes were a bit repetitive and the Steve Lilywhite production was murky. Other than that, they were great. What the marquee doesn't tell you is that the Furs are being supported by The Happy Mondays, a band I never listened to. I can't tell you why; our paths just never crossed.
