After Hours

Bobby Darin. Mack the Knife

This is Bobby Darin at the height of his powers in 1959. For the rest of his career, everything else was showbiz clowning. Sure, he sang some OK tunes, but what can compare with this? Just the sharp suit, the brash charisma and the solid arrangement are a testament to his ambition and talent. It's really a thing of beauty. I can't believe that he was such a lounge-lizard in later years. Just remember Bobby for the meteoric talent that launched him to stardom. And it's also good to know that the line forms on the right, babe, now that Mackie's back in town.
