Coming Soon to the Moore!

Ah, the pride of Akron is coming to town! How exciting! They're at the Moore for a two-night stand during which they'll do all of Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! on the first night and Freedom of Choice on the second. That sounds kind of neat. My one pressing question is whether they're going to be wearing the flowerpot hats or the plastic hair. I favor the plastic Reaganesque hair. In between being Devo, Mark Mothersbaugh and Jerry Casale have established themselves in different careers. Mothersbaugh has become quite a good film and TV composer. His scores for Wes Anderson's Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums are particularly good. Unlike fellow rock musician Danny Elfman, Mothersbaugh seems to know what he's doing. Jerry Casale, on the other hand, directs music videos and commercials. That seems about right for him. He was always the huckster of the group. If only Devo was slightly less creepy, they probably would have gotten their own cartoon series. I'm pretty sure that was Casale's ultimate dream for the band. But that time is over. However, Devo will be releasing a new album next year. I wonder what their get-up will be for that. It's supposed to change for every album. Well, we can only wait and marvel at their next foray into weirdness.
