After Hours

Vasily Bondarchuk. Eto byvaet s kazhdym (It happens with everyone)

As far as I know, this guy isn't related to the legendary filmmaker Sergei Bondarchuk (the guy who directed the 8-hour version of War & Peace), but he does have a very nice Ukrainian last name in any case. In fact, he prefers to be called just plain "Bondarchuk," not unlike Tarkan or Schwarzenegger. OK, then. There's not much to this video besides an imaginary sport that Bondarchuk doesn't play at all well. Wait, is that handball? It threw me for a second, because you're not supposed to play it in a sand pit. I believe it's better indoors, on a wooden floor. That way the ball actually bounces. It's a really big sport in Europe and not here. When I first saw it played, I thought it was about the stupidest thing on earth. It had all the tedium of water polo, but there was no water. Anyhow, during the course of this clip, Bondarchuk's game improves quite a bit. Good for him. And now he's proficient at a sport that doesn't matter.
