After yesterday's post about paving on 4th Avenue, I was predicting that, true to previous form, all work would stop after they had repaved just one lane. I thought that they would all pick up and go home for several weeks. Not so! Look at 4th & Bell:
Pavement, sweet pavement, in all lanes! OK, so it still just goes down to Battery and everything else beyond there is naked road bed, but hey, things are happening quickly.
But speaking of projects getting started and abandoned, this is what all of Bell Street looks like from 5th Avenue to 2nd:
It's all steel plates, caution tape and plastic pylon-things, but not a worker in sight. And that's the way it's been for the last two weeks. My guess is that will be how it looks until the end of the summer. After all, 4th Avenue is getting repaved and 2nd Avenue is repelling mole-people, so there just aren't enough orange vests around to tend to Bell.
