Coming Soon to the Moore!
Funny thing, I don't think I've ever heard these guys play, but I do know about them. The two guys behind Hot Tuna, Kaukonen and Casady, became the band-within-the-band when they joined/founded Jefferson Airplane back when doctors were still featured in cigarette ads. Jefferson Airplane had its time in the sun, but Hot Tuna continued to exist, sometimes enlisting the rest of the Airplane for their projects. They parted company with the JA when they broke up in 1972, thus sparing themselves the embarrassing association with the later incarnations, Jefferson Starship and Starship. Grace Slick, Paul Kantner and Marty Balin were not so lucky. Teaming up with hateful dwarf, Mickey Hart, Starship did eventually build that city on rock 'n' roll. Hot Tuna took a less bombastic and annoying path. And now, after all those years, here they are playing the Moore. Honestly, I'd like to go see them, but since I've never heard anything by them, I'm thinking: Why start now? Yeah, I'd rather not know what I'm missing.

I guess we should just celebrate the fact that they are still alive and can (supposedly) show up for a gig in Seattle. Can you imagine how many drugs these guys must have taken over the years?
