Another Crane!

I was walking by 2nd & Bell today and figured I should take a picture of the crane there. When it's gone, I'll miss it.

Happy Fun Joy Crane!

Whenever you see his sight, you always know that something cool is happening. This is the scene on 2nd, between University & Seneca, if my eyes serve me right. It's not Belltown, but big deal. I have no idea what they're trying to accomplish, but I'd like to think that they're moving somebody's pet elephant to the top of one of those buildings. See, the trick is to get them up there while they're still small enough to ride in the elevator. Once they're the elephant equivalent of a teenager, you'll need a crane like this one. Or perhaps they're installing a cell phone relay tower or a new HVAC unit. Yeah, yawn. I want elephants on top of our buildings.

De Crane ! De Crane!

Whenever you see this sight, you know that something cool is going down. Yesterday was no exception. They sent in a giant mobile crane, blocked off Cedar Street and dismantled the A.L. Humphrey House's construction crane. In past weeks, the building had been rising to the point where its once-majestic crane seemed puny and irrelevant. Once that happens, the arrival of the crane-crane is imminent. Whenever the crane-crane shows up just about anywhere in Belltown, I always seem to stumble onto it. It's great to see them making such huge strides with the Humphrey House. Soon, a select bunch of crazy people will have a nice place to stay. I'll go out on a limb here and predict that it'll be all done by April. There, you heard it here first.

Large Cranes Bring Nice Things

Always.

I walked out of the Rivoli and saw this sight down at 2nd & Bell. What could they possibly be up to? Two words for you: concrete plates. Observe:

Here's the concrete plate fresh off the truck. I think it might weigh a few tons.

It's up in the air and...

...now it's in the big hole they dug for it. Bottom line here: if you were in the concrete plates business, you'd be making money right now.

What does this mean? Well, clearly, the mole people are out of control. We need to seal off their realm with concrete plates. That's how bad things have gotten. I don't know what to be more frightened of, the mole people or the impending feral dog explosion. I kind of go back and forth.
