Seattle is quite a beautiful city, no doubt about that. The Belltown neighborhood doesn’t swing that way. Much of it is downright hideously ugly. If not for all that ugliness, there’d be nothing to see. I’ve lived here for 20 years and I’ve only just started taking notice. Please join me on this odyssey of unsightliness as we try to figure out why poor Belltown looks so bad.

Your Sunday Squirrel
There were lots of squirrels at Denny Park yesterday. They all seemed to be going somewhere, so they paid little attention to me. This fellow stood still for just this microsecond and then zipped away to bury his peanut. He did the classic piece of squirrel deception by digging several holes and then covering them over before burying the peanut for real. There was another squirrel in the neighborhood, so he was taking no chances. Meanwhile, the other squirrel was totally not interested in anything. I have no idea what his deal was. Anyhow, squirrels were running around everywhere, but few wanted what I was giving away.
