To be honest, I had no idea who this person was, but, funny thing, I've been hearing her music for the last four years. She's very good. Her best-known tune is probably "Put Your Records On," which is one of the best singles of last decade. And it wasn't till today that I knew who sang it. Rae's stuff is like Rickie Lee Jones colliding with Norah Jones (no relation). She has an intimate style (which should work really nicely at the Moore), a nice flow to her lyrics and a very good voice. If I'd known something about her beforehand, I would probably consider going tonight, but alas. To all those who are going, you're probably in for a very nice show.
Seattle is quite a beautiful city, no doubt about that. The Belltown neighborhood doesn’t swing that way. Much of it is downright hideously ugly. If not for all that ugliness, there’d be nothing to see. I’ve lived here for 20 years and I’ve only just started taking notice. Please join me on this odyssey of unsightliness as we try to figure out why poor Belltown looks so bad.
